Get started fast

Most questions are answered in minutes with these quick steps.

Recipe import

Tap Add Recipe or Scan Recipe on the Home tab. You can photograph a recipe, paste a link, or type your own.

Generate grocery lists

Open Meal Plan, add meals for your week, then choose Generate Grocery List to auto-combine ingredients.

AI setup

MealCart works with on-device Apple Intelligence when available. You can also bring your own AI provider key for larger plans.

AI features stay private by default. Your recipes are only sent to a third-party provider when you explicitly run a scan or AI request.

Troubleshooting

Common fixes for AI and widget issues.

AI features not working

  • Check the API key format and available credits.
  • Try the Test Connection button in AI Configuration.
  • Switch to Apple Intelligence if your device supports it.

Widgets showing placeholders

  • Add a meal plan or grocery list first.
  • Give widgets time to sync (up to 30 minutes).
  • Make sure widgets are enabled in iOS.
